THETA SIGMA

Oklahoma
State
University

Among the many service projects conducted by Theta Sigma since its rechartering on December 16, 1995, Brothers painted a United States map on a local elementary school's playground to provide a fun way for the students to learn national geography. Chapter members also served food at a Blue and Gold banquet for Cub Scouts, and the service vice president, dressed in traditional American Indian costume, performed the Arrow of Light ceremony.

ALPHA GAMMA UPSILON
Carlow College

Alpha Gamma Upsilon's first "Cutest Cupid Pageant" raised almost $150 for the American Heart Association in February. The chapter recruited 13 male students on the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, campus to compete for the "Cutest Cupid" title by collecting donations for the heart association. The contest finale was a pageant featuring all candidates and last-minute opportunities for members of the audience to vote for their favorite Cupids by making additional contributions. And the winner was .......... Alpha Gamma Upsilon's own Deven Werling, shown in this photo with other members of the chapter.

ZETA UPSILON
Boston University

These Zeta Upsilon volunteers in February helped the Greater Boston Food Bank sort and package 10,000 pounds of food products donated by local supermarkets. The salvageable products (about half the total) were distributed through 900 other agencies into 465,000 hungry stomachs. The experience was such a success, that Zeta Upsilon returned to the food bank in March for an interchapter service project with Alpha Chi Chapter of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

ZETA OMEGA
Baylor University

A "Read-a-Thon" sponsored by Zeta Omega during the spring helped increase public awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and raised $300 to support MS research. For seven hours, students and faculty read publicly in front of Marrs McLean Gym and collected donations from passersby. The project resulted in a front-page story and photo in The Lariat newspaper produced by Baylor journalism students.

SECTION 4

Chapters from throughout Section 4 provided volunteers in May for the San Francisco Examiner's 1996 "Bay to Breakers" race. Helping with the race has become an annual interchapter service project for the section.

PI IOTA
Wofford College

Members of Pi Iota rolled their way into the hearts of 16 girls from the Ellen Hines Girls' Home in Spartanburg, S.C., during a skating party at the nearby Skate Palace in March. Among the 18 Pi Iota participants were the three shown here: Louise Maynard, Jane Blair Rabb and Melanie Thompson.

IOTA LAMBDA
North Carolina State University

Iota Lambda, during the spring, turned the spotlight on domestic violence, conducting fund-raisers for battered womens shelters in the Raleigh, North Carolina, area and sponsoring a speech at North Carolina State by Denise Brown, head of the Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation. That foundation provides aid to programs for battered women and helps educate the public about domestic violence. Iota Lambda members are shown here in front of one of the foundation's posters.

NU SIGMA
Stephen F. Austin State University

Nu Sigma sponsored its 5th Annual East Texas Air Show in April. The show featured vintage airplanes, World War I and World War II aircraft, F-16s, A-1Os, and two Harrier Jets. More than 60 Nu Sigma Brothers helped with the project.
