Chicago Rembers Dr. Librado Ureta

By proclamation from Mayor Richard M. Daley, March 18, 1996, was "Alpha Phi Omega Day" in the city of Chicago. Brothers in the Alpha Phi Omega International Midwest Alumni group led the celebration with activities in four areas of service.

To help the needy, the Brothers donated clothes, toys and food to a local church; as a campus service, they cleaned (and will continue to maintain) the APO Park at the University of Illinois at Chicago; and as a service to the city, they Joined the "Adopt-A-Street" program.

In addition, as a service to the Fraternity, the Brothers secured a resolution from the Chicago City Council naming a street "Dr. Librado Ureta Way' in honor of the organizer and first president of Alpha Phi Omega of the Philippines, who was born on March 18. 1905. The resolution was adopted on Dec. 16, 1994, the Fraternity's 69th anniversary.
